The Ragamuffin Children create a sound that is unique and engaging. Their songs capture a sense of fantasy and an other-worldly charm that is unmatched in New Zealand music. The band formed in 2007 by Anita Clark (vocals, guitar, violin) and Brooke Singer (piano) when they released their debut album 'Werecat Lullabies'. After touring several times around New Zealand, and a brief stint overseas, they decided the time was right to record their second album 'The Seahorse Emporium' with help from new satellite members Benjamin James (clarinet, accordion, synth) and Karena-Tui Miles-Hemopo (backing vocals).
'The Seahorse Emporium' is a collection of curio's, tales of seahorses, storms, snakes and struggles, and was recorded at Wellington studio 'The Surgery' with outstanding producer Lee Prebble with funding from Creative New Zealand.
